How to prepare for IELTS Speaking Test? What is the procedure of the test? All details of the test are below.
Procedure of the test
- The Speaking Test consists of an oral interview between you and an examiner. Remember, all interviews will be recorded.
- The takes about between 11 to 14 minutes.
Structure of the test
The test consists of 3 parts.
- In the first part, the examiner will ask about yourself, your home or family, your jobs or education, your interests and other familiar topic areas. This part will normal last 4 to 5 minutes.
- In the second part, you will be given a paper card with a topic written on it. You have to talk for 2 minutes on this particular topic. You will have 1 minute to prepare before speaking. Take the one minute provided to write down all the ideas you get about the topic. Once you finish talking for 2 minutes, the examiner will stop you and then ask you some questions on what you have talked about.
- The third part, you and the examiner will discuss many questions on a topic related to what you spoke about in Part 2. The questions will be more of abstract issues. This part will last between 4 - 5 minutes.
You will be marked on fluency, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and ideas.
