Tips for the Reading Test
- Do as many practice tests as you can! It at least helps expand your vocabulary and improve your reading skill.
- When you receive the test paper, look through the whole reading passages first. Quickly look at each passage to get its heading, illustrations, diagrams, highlighted words such as bold, underlined, or italics.
- Before start reading each passage, quickly read the questions so if you come across the area the questions ask about in the passage, you can find the right answer right away.
- While reading the passage for the first time, highlight key words where you think it might be the answers. Then you can go back to find the answer later.
- Before answering any question, make sure you understand the instruction and question types correctly.
- The texts in the passages might not be the same as in the questions, so look for synonyms and similar expressions.
- Some answers might be referred to in more than one place in the passage, so be sure to read all relevant part of the passage before choosing an answer.
- Do not spend too long on reading one passage or one question because you have only about 20 minutes for reading one passage and finishing all questions of that passage.
