- Section 3
In this section you will listen to a conversation with up to four people. The conversation language is based on academic topics or course-related situations. It is more formal than Section 1.
For example, the speakers could be students discussing a lecture or planning something for their team projects.
- Section 4
In this section you will listen to a monologue of the university-style lecture or talk. It is also more formal than previous sections. The conversation language is also concerned with educational contexts.
For example, you may hear a lecturer talking to his/her students in a class or explaning about detailed term project.
In total, there are 40 questions in the Listening Test and about 10 questions in each section. In each section, there will be at least two types of questions such as multiple choice or short-answer questions. There are a variety of question types such as:
- Multiple choice
- Short-answer questions
- Sentence completion
- Summary or Diagram completion
- Labeling a diagram which has numbered parts
- Classification
- Matching
Tips for the Listening Test
- At the beginning of each section, you are given 30 seconds before the audio tape starts. Use the 30 seconds wisely by reading the questions of that section. Before the conversation starts, there will be the voice on the tape tells you how many questions to answer in that section.
- Underline key words in each question on the question booklet like "what", "when", "where" and "who" which tell you what to listen for.
- Answer all the questions as you hear them; don't wait until later. So that you won't forget your answers.
- Time is also provided at the end of each section to check your answers. Use this time also to read the questions for the next section.
- At the end of the Listening Test, you are also given 10 minutes more to transfer your answers to the answer sheet. Make sure you transfer your answers correctly.
- Be careful about your spelling. If you spell any word wrong, your answers will be marked as wrong.
